The Empire State Winter Games is the largest Olympic-style Winter Sporting Event in the Northeast. Started in 1981, the games were created shortly after the 1980 Winter Olympics were held in Lake Placid, NY. Forty-five years later, the games brought together over 2,000 athletes, ages 8-80, to compete in over 20 winter sports such as figure skating, speed skating, sled hockey, and more.
